Matjieskloof
MatjieskloofWhat! Where is this place called “Matjieskloof”?  Matjieskloof is just outside Springbok, on the way to Kleinsee in Namaqualand as it is better known.  It is here, in Matjieskloof that we, Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales, try to spread the Good News through the Salesian lifestyle.  This area attracts lots of tourists from all over the world to glorify God in His creation, viewing the beautiful carpet of flowers. In the middle of this natural beauty, the first Novitiate of the Oblate Sisters of St. Francis de Sales in South-Africa  opened its doors in our community in 1931, and moved to Cape Town, Koelenhof, in 1965.  As a big family of St. Francis de Sales, we worked in close collaboration with the Oblate Fathers at the Salesian High School.  We started a school for Domestic Science to answer the need of that time. Today, we continue the work our pioneers began at St. Anne’s Girls High School, following the National Curriculum of Education. We are thanful to God that at „St Anne‘s cradle“ many Oblate Sisters received the seed to flower in religious life!  Our community also attends to the various pastoral activities of our parish and the diocese. In this way like the beautiful flowers, “we blossom where we are planted” (St Francis de Sales).
